Network storage

Our server (Dell Power Edge 2850) is running out of storade space. I am looking in to purchaseing a Dell Power vault 2200 is this a good solution or is there a better more cost effective way of adding storage. I looked in to getting a NAS but how do you control security on a NAS? Thanks for any help
