Network troubleshooting

I have computers networked together. The NICs are fine along with the cabling. The computers could see the other computers on the network, they worked fine. One day they stopped. So I checked the NIC’s cabling etc. I managed to get the computersto see the others, but they could not access them.
Any ideas on more troubleshooting?
