Network W2K server with win 98 machines

by ameliapumo . Updated 22 years, 6 months ago

I have a work based network at home which was set up by someone else. For security and other reasons we decided to re-set uo the network. Answers from previous questions directed me to site www.mocrosoft.com/windows2000/techinfo….. or www.tiny.url.

I set up win 2k server as domain controller following these guides, but they are assuming that the PC’s on the workgroup are win 2000. We have win 98SE, winME, XP home, XP preofessional and Win 2000 professional machines connected.

I can’t get the win 98SE machine to connect to the network. It says that it is unable to browse network.

Also I have PC used as a broadband router/gateway (ie. this pc is connected to internet via intel anypoint modem with USB connection to PC). I want all other PC’s on network to be able to connect to internet via this PC As it is a win 98 SE O/S I seem to be having trouble as the instructions given for Internet Connection Sharing tell me to make a disk for all other PC’s to use to gain acces, but it does not work on operating systems above win 98.

Can I have a win 2K advanced server as Domain Controller and win 98 as gateway to internet??
