Network – Wireless can’t see wired network

by cdengler . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

I have seen this posted, but no answer solves my problem. And I know this works because it was working just b4 I moved.

I have a WIRED network throughout my house. This router is 192.168.1.1. I have a Windows Server 2003 on this network with the name of BULLOCK. I then plugged a wireless network into the WIRED network in my house (same network). It now has the IP address of 192.168.2.1.

From a WIRELESS computer I can ping the IP address of BULLOCK (the wired Server) but cannot ping (or bring up file sharing) using the name “BULLOCK”.

Also keep in mind that BULLOCK is its own domain controller while my wireless (Vista OS) laptop is on a workgroup called WORKGROUP.

I know it’s possible to see the wired machines by NAME from the wireless because it was setup that way before. How can I do this? Any experts out there?
