I have an old 266pentium II pc with a 4gig hdd using windows 98. I just received a 40gig WD hdd 7200rpm ATA100. My mobo controller does not support the new drive so I purchased a basic Ultra IDE ATA100 controller to plug in. After running the install disk and unplugging my 4gigHDD (primary) + cdrom (secondary) from the onboard controller. I place the new controller in the pci slot and re-connected the 4gig hdd and cdrom to the new card. The bios sees the controller but the controller does not see the hdd or the cdrom. I went as far as disabling my onboard ide controller. This allowed the controller to see both drives but now it fails to boot to windows. It hangs at the windows 98 logo screen. When I press escape to get to the C:\ I’mable to see all my directories but I’m unable to launch windows even from dos. Any suggestions on how to make this card work? This is the second card, I took the first one back thinking it was the card. DESPARATE FOR HELP!!!!!!
