New bugs in MS Office 2000?

by philip.tory . Updated 19 years, 2 months ago

Has anyone come across possible ‘induced faults’ in MS Office 2000 (+ latest SP) running under Windows XP + latest SP?

Everything ran fine until maybe 3-4 months ago, and then the print server started playing up: try to print from MS Word or Excel, and it locks up for a while, then crashes. Persistent intermittent fault. I have uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office 2000 and all its SPs, but didn’t clear the fault. The error message leads me to a MS Support page that tells me the fault is in Office 2000, which is no longer supported. Yet it used to run completely OK.

I got another Security Update from MS the other day, and now, when I start typing in an MS Outlook email, there is a delay of perhaps 5 seconds between typing and the text appearing on screen.

Excuse me for being suspicious, but is a certain company trying to pressurise me into updating? Or is there a technical reason for this? Any ideas how to fix these?
