New folder view settings…

Hi,

On a Windows XP based computer, Windows Explorer view selected as Details, and Under Folder Options, I selected “Apply to All Folder”.
I created a new folder on the desktop, and I want to display the content of this folder, only this folder, by Icons.

Each time, after invariable period of time, view are reset to Details, like Windows Explorer default settings. Is this behavior is normal, “by design”, or we can fix it?

The content of this new folder are local applications shortcuts, like Word, Excel, Outlook.
