New router won’t work with switches

by nymous . Updated 23 years, 10 months ago

The business I am working for has a network based around a file server and a T1 connection used for Citrix with about 32 computers attached. They’ve recently decided to add cable internet connections to their network. They already had two CNet CN8020X hubs and I bought a Linksys cable/Dsl router.

The issue is that I have the cable modem and router hooked up correctly and when plugging them directly into any individual PC I get the internet connection immediately and it easily finds the IP address, BUT when I plug the router into the hub I can’t get anything. No computers can find the IP address, nobody can access the internet, and the Link/Act light on the LAN side of the router just blinks and the other LAN lights don’t even light up.
I’ve tried everything I can think of including a call to Linksys but it’s not really the router with the issue it seems to be the switch or some other unknown. Thanks for the help if you can.
