Company I am working for part time lost their domain server(motherboard and drive just went and they do not want or have the money to invest to retrieve the info did not have a BDC) It was a 2000 server (PDC) and had the DNS, DHCP and Active directory on it.
They instead decided to go with:
Systemax Small Office DC 2003 Server R2
I went ahead and set the server up as directed as a new PDC (with the same domain name as they had) and ran and activated the DNS, DHCP, and active directory.
The problem:
Created a few users in active directory with the same user loggin as the old server, took the test Pc and put back into workgroup and tried to add to new domain server with same domain name. Will not take. Tried to ping new server from that PC (all PC’s are XP pro)and different PC’s cannot ping new PDC server but PC’s can ping other PC’s and router.The new PDC server can ping PC’s and router…what am I doing wrong?
