New T-1 and keeping Exchange inside

The local telco has installed a new T-1, to replace the current DSL connection for my small company. Exchange is running inside on one server fine and I would like to keep it inside. Have no interest in setting up a front-end server or setting up a DMZ.

Currently, email FQDN resolves to the address of the DSL router and I am installing a new Linksys router to replace the DSL router. Can the email FQDN point to the address of this new Linksys device or does it need to point to the gateway addy the T-1 is using?
