How does one repair licensing on a SBS 2003 R2 member server ?
Inserting SBS disk 1 (to re-install licensing snapin component) crashes with “No Active Directory”.
Why, why, why ?
The agony of using Microsoft products:
PART A
1. SBS 2003 (R1) software installed, activated OK.
2. Upgraded with SP1, SP2 SP99 etc etc etc
3. New server is now domain controller two which clashes with DC one. (I thought Active Directory was supposed to cope with that ?)
4. Demoted DC2 to be a member server. Worked like a charm!
5. GOTCHA! – licensing now trashed (only Administrator recognised). Licensing snapin trashed.
6. No way to fix this. Save up for 2 months and “repair” installation with SBS 2003 R2. Activated.
7. Licensing short-cut – does not work.
8. Licensing snapin shows CLSID error.
9. Search Microsoft WEB sites for hours – nothing found re this.
10. Pray for miracle – nothing!
