New Unaccessable Pc on company intranet

by jtech9_2000 . Updated 24 years, 11 months ago

I just started at this company 3 weeks ago. Just after I started gathering info from each pc(ip addresses, netbios, mac addresses, etc) for a better view of the network and needed upgrades, a new PC showed up in the neighborhood. Named “Nobody”. I found the Ip address is in the DHCP reserved scope. This is a workgroup. We are prepping for changes to a Domain with W2k Server. Currently NT4, linux, unix servers are in place. I cannot access this pc or find it’s physical location. About 1/3 of the employees are aware of the Admin password. Which is one of the things I’m trying to change. Is there a better way of finding this machine and accessing it than ping and unplug wires? I know there must be and overriding back door. I would appreciated any help. I would gain a great deal of respect in my new job if I can do this.
