Newly Built. Connected to internet. Windows update. Limited/no connectivity

Just built my barebones kit. Put in a WDC IDE HD and IDE DVD.
Connected to WIndows Update. Downloaded about 95-100 updates.
About 30 minutes later i got the ever annoying “limited or no
connectivity” message. tried cmd “IPCONFIG /all,/release,/renew. Gets
stuck and times out. Tried cmd netsh winsock reset. No luck. tried the KB884020 hot fix and Winsockxpfix.exe. Still no luck. dealt with this
before but netsh winsock worked.

Specs

AMD athlon 3500+ 2.2 ghz
2gb OCZ SLI edition ram
Netgear WPN111 with latest drivers

connecting to a PowerPC g4 hooked up to a 2wire 2701Hg-B
