No DNS through router! Please help.

by ebstar . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I have a problem with a Cisco 760 Router acting as a default gateway for my network. It is configured as an ISP dialer through ISDN. I have only 5 W98 clients and one NT4 Server. I am using DHCP with WINS (046/044), Router (003) and DNS (006) configured. Wins is the local server, router is x.x.x.254 : the router (default gateway), DNS has the primary and secondary DNS of my ISP (although i have tried the local server running DNS, too).
My problem is this. From the browser of ANY machine, if I enter a web address nothing happens, but if I enter an IP address outside my subnet the router connects to the internet and hey presto. Somewhere along the line i have a name resolution problem but I don’t know where it lies. There is nowhere within the router to enter DNS settings unless I use the router as a DHCP server.
Does anyone know where the name resolution problem lies?

Please help ASAP.
