no harddisks

Just recently our MD made a trip to a few companies that have been claiming they’re running a fairly secure network by removing hard disks from all PC and using a NAS box to store and run data off. Am curious…how are they exactly doing this. I mean remote booting is fine understandable…what about the other applications? It must be having a killer impact on the network.
