No Internet Connection on Novell Network

The user has a WIN XP PRO desktop using Novell client, as well as Client for MS Networks. Computer can read all the network drives/printers but will not connect to the internet. I have tried DHCP (original configuration) and static IP with no luck. This desktop also connects to an AS/400 server, but that connection also will not work. Initially I got a Winsock error when trying to run a program from the AS/400, so replaced the Winsock file, still did not fix the problem. I have run anti-virus and anti-adware/spyware which removed those problems, but still not internet. If I use DHCP and do an IPCONFIG I don’t get a gateway, just IP and Subnet. With static IP I get gateway/subnet/ip with IPCONFIG. Thanks.
