NO LAN!!! I can’ connect to the internet

I recently had to reinstall my O/S (vista) and when i tried to contact
the isp as i couldn’t connect i was told that i had lost my LAN, and
that i should have a cd called drivers and utilities with my computer
(HP M8170) WHICH I DONT. If anyone knows how i can fix this
problem without calling out an engineer and by dong it myself i
would be really greatful.
