no partition on screen

Hard Drive Failure
RUNNING WINDOWS 95a on 1.7g ibm drive spin up and run.
I checked the BIOS information and it checked all right.
I booting the PC to C: NO C: THEN I BOOT w/ DISK to a: TYPE C:\DIR I get no partition. I use fdisk to see, I get no partition on screen.
I can get a no partition
The PC has important Documents on it.

Can you recommend steps at this point, Software or
Technique to bring this drive backup. Please be specific.
