non-Access Access front-end

Odd question, I know; but I want to deploy an MDB without having to install Access on every machine. Is there an ODBC\Access-compliant manipulatable database front-end or interpreter that’s fairly thin, but still robust enough to be flexible for field changes and/or design changes. It should be able to search/query and have input data capabilities.
If there isn’t one, and I need to use Access and pretty-it-up a little, let me know how you tried to find another database and you can still get the points.
