I work at the help desk at a major law firm and so we have to deal with many attorneys, para-legals, secretaries and other support staff. The COO freely admits to being “technologically challenged”. Despite that, he has taken it upon himself to micro-manage the entire IT Department, which includes the helpdesk, network guys and programmers. Nevermind that we have IT managers in place to guide us and keep us out of trouble. It’s gotten to the point to where we have no idea on how to handle specific situations. Accepted methods of resolution are no longer acceptable. Things have become very confused. Micro-management is bad enough (and I truly hate it), but when it’s by an “unqualified” individual, it’s even worse!
Does anyone else have to deal with this sort of problem? If so, how do you deal with it?
