Notepad auto starting

I have a win98 box that is loading notepad at startup. It doesn’t show as active in the task bar either. There is no reference to it in any of the startup files. If I shut it down it often will startup again. Once it was claiming 650 MB of memory. Ihave searched the registry too. I can only guess that IE is calling it somehow. Any ideas? Thanks Very much.
