Novell NetWare Client and Internet Access

I’m not a Novell guy so I apologize if this question is off the wall.

For companies that are Novell shops, do the Window PC’s (XP and Visata) only need the Novell Client installed on those PCs to access the Internet or is the Microsoft Client needed as well.

Sorry if this is a dumb question as I haven’t worked with Novell in ages.

My thinking is that a Microsoft Client is not needed to access the Internet or other IP based services.
