I have been having problems getting Windows NT working on my home system. I can get NT installed, install SP4, then my Voodoo3 3000 drivers but when I install my SB Live! (either via the Multimedia CP or the setup on the cd) my system will boot and then hang just prior to the Logon prompt. I have reinstalled NT several times, even adding my SB drivers in first but as soon as I install SP4 the system hangs on the reboot (just prior to Logon). My system hardware: IWILL motherboard (VIA Apollo Pro Chipset), PIII650, 128mb, Voodoo3 3000,SB Live! Value,3COM ethernet.
I also run Win98 and Win2000 on this system with no problems. All OS’s are on different drives and I have tried NT on known good drives with the same results.
I have tried this Dual booting with 98 and then picked up the Mobile Rack to try NT alone. Same results. Installation of sofware in in these ways:
NT->SP4->Voodoo drivers->SB drivers
NT->SB drivers->Voodoo drivers->sp4
NT->IWILL motherboarddrivers->voodoo->SP4->SB
All fail and are not recoverable forcing me to format and start all over. I’m tired of installing NT…any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks…Ted
