NT 4 Workstation/Win98

My modem connects fine using win 98. I have tried to use the same modem in a windows NT enviroment and it tells me that the modem is being used by something else….In win98 my modem is using IRQ 4 FOR COM1 and NT is using IRQ 3 FOR COM2. Is it possible to use one modem for both operating systems on different intervals…
