I am taking over a small network that has two servers – one runs SBS 4.5 and the other runs SBS 2000 (an aside, I did not think it was possible to run 2 SBS on the same network). The 4.5 server appears to only be used as a print server.
One workstation (Win98 SE – groan!) is having trouble connecting to the Minolta 321 printer that the server manages. When I add the printer as a network printer, I can see it listed for the print server and it is added OK. I have tried using the drivers that came with the printer and have downloaded fresh drivers. When I try to print a test page, everything seems to go fine but nothing ever prints. No errors. It is as if the print job goes out to the network and just vanishes.
This workstation is connected to the network and logs on daily to the domain. It can see the other network resources.
I can print from other Win 98 workstations with no problem.
The other SBS server is running as the DC and has Exchange running and perhaps SQL, not sure on that yet. Still trying to get a handle on this setup.
