NT User Mandatory Profiles

We are using NT server and NT Workstation with Mandatory user profiles that are retained on the Server. Whenever a user makes any changes (e.g. desktop colours or in Word, Tools, Options etc..) those changes are lost once the user logs off. The Mandatory user profile isn’t been updated with the changes. How can I fix this?
