NT Workstation Joining Domain

by the gun doctor . Updated 25 years, 7 months ago

Have several machines that we have just installed NT Workstation on…all were previously 9x clients on the domain we’ll call “MYDOMAIN”. When I installed NT on a few of these machines I had some problems with NIC drivers so I had the machines join”MYWorkgroup” until I got the NIC issues resolved. Now that I have good NICs in all machines I can browse the entire network and ping everyone under the sun. However, when I attempt to change to a member of “MYDomain” instead of “MyWorkgroup” I getan error msg stating “Unable to connect to domain controller for this domain. Have your administrator check your computer account on the domain.” If I check the box for “Create a Computer Account in the Domain” I get another error “The machine account for this computer either does not exist or is inaccessible”
I have Service pack 5 installed on these machines and all DNS, WINS, and Gateway addresses have been verified and re-verified. The domain name is correct (and works on about 70 other client machines). Any help will be welcome. Thanks.
