NT4 W/S doesn’t recognize slave drive

I re-installed NT4 W/S, it had the following:
1) primary master 3 partitions NTFS 8GB
2) primary slave 1 partition NTFS 8GB

I reformatted the primary drive and installed NT, Disk Admin sees the secondary as a 3 partition unformatted drive. Why?And how do I retrieve my data?
