Ntwrk perf worse after installing switch

by mrawson . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

I just replaced 3 16-port 10baseT hubs with 2 new NetGear 10/100 24-port switches (FS524’s)and my network performance decreased drastically! My obvious intention was to improve performance but now our response time is incredibly slow over the LAN, Outlook takes forever to access the Exchange Server, it’s terrible! I contacted NetGear tech support and all they offered was maybe changing my store bought CAT5 cables to a different pin-out. I’d have to change out all of my wiring! I asked about spreading out my servers over separate switches and they said sure I could try that. I do only have a 10mbs card in my server which obviously won’t help but could it be the cause of my problems? I just ordered a new server yesterday with a 100mbs card in it so I didn’t want to go through the pains of adding a second nic to my existing server and disabling the on-board. Any ideas?
