I have 13 pc’s running Windows NT4.0 all connected using a switch in the same workgroup (tcp/ip installed, ipaddress assigned to each machine; no domain). No machine is a server. All pc’s are on and running simultaneously. On these twelve pc’s, I want to map a drive (say y:) from the 13th pc(D: drive on 13th pc; it also has y: mapped to its own d: drive and the remaining 12 pc’s want to connect to this). I can do that on 11 pc’s but when I try to do it on the 12th pc, it does not allow me to connect to the 13th pc and gives the following error message.
“Microsoft Windows Network: No more connections can be made this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept”.
If I switch off any one pc, I can get connection on the last pc which could not connect to the 13th pc. And then when I bring up the pc that I switch off, this pc now cannot connect to the 13th pc. Is there a limit on the number of connections in a workgroup?
Thanks.
