NWLink frame type on Windows 2000

I changed the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Protocol Frame Type in my W2k PC from “Auto Detect” to “Ethernet 802.2” and now I cannot access the internet through T1 line or dial-up connection. Also cannot see computers in “Computer Near Me”. I changed it back but that did not work.
