Office 2000 Clipboard

How do I get rid of the stupid new clipboard feature that comes with Office 2000. I have never needed to use the last 12 things copied to the clipboard and it’s really annoying to have the clipboard pop up on the screen. I’ve tried to put the clipboard on the toolbar in Word, Excel and Outlook, but it only stays there until I close the program.
