offline files disappear when synchronizing

We have been using folder redirection of user Desktops and My Documents on a Server 2003 system for some time now without too much issues.

I have a user working with XP Pro SP2 who recently has been having issues.

He works on existing files offline and saves his changes, but when he reconnects to the network and the system synchronizes, he gets an error “Access to (file name) is denied on \\servername\share and the file disappears from both his local system and the server.

When I view the Offline files under Tools\Folder Options\offline Files\View Files from Explorer I can see the files, but cannot view or copy them anywhere.

I am not sure why this is happening and would greatly appreciate any help.
