On board Printer port Blown

I have got a p4 motherboard that has got everything on-board. It a 1.7Gig processor. This is what happened, the printer port just blew from nowhere. What might have caused this? Is it normal for a thing like this to happen. After it blew, the board wasn’t even switching on. Is my board cooked or its something else.

I use a lasejet color print HP1100.

Any suggestions on what steps to take? Are there any solutions
