optical encoder recognized as joystick

by desfam5 . Updated 18 years, 3 months ago

I have optical encoder counts going into a USB1-S (encoder data acquisition box), and then going into the USB port of my winxp PC. I can see the counts on my PC and change them by rotating the encoder shaft. How can I get my winxp PC to recognize this input from the USB port as a joystick/game controller. I need some kind of software driver. What should I do next??
