I have Compaq Proliant 6500 and FC-AL storage RA4100 attached. We had some conectivity problems with external array and volume was not mounted. So I isolated the problem with Compaq Fibre fault isolation utility. It was optic cable fault between server and storage. I have replaced the cable but the system (casa) driver tries to initialize peripheral devices (storage) and reports “Fibre channel loop does not appear to be stable”. So I have changed everything from FC-AL host controller to both GBIC-s, cable and whole fibre drive array but it did not help. I went to fibre array configuration utility. I can see Drive array and configured logical drive on RAID5 but its state is offline. If I try to bring it online, the message says “drive is not stamped or invalid nexus”. Is it safe to stamp the drive? Oracle database is on that array with no recent backup of course. Any other ideas what could be wrong here?
