Oracle 10G

Can anyone tell me the benefits of running Oracle10G on a Linux/RedHat or Unix server as opposed to a Windows server

Also what is the new Grid concept benefit in Oracle10g.

I am taking it that Grid computing simply means that there are more than one server managing the RDBMS so if one server goes down the others take over something similar to backup domain controllers. Would i be correct in assuming this?
