I have an Xserve (10.5.8) running the Print Service for queue management to our Epson Stylus Pro 4880 printers. Under 10.5.6 Clients could print through the server just fine. When an entire class of students were printing the teachers and I could easily look at the queues and see who’s job was printing, whose were held, and cancel jobs as well. Since installing update 10.5.7 all that stopped, and it is still a problem in 10.5.8.
The printing still works (mostly) but when the printer is viewed within Server Admin/Print, the queue shows as empty and therefore can’t be managed. Jobs are indeed queued; If you go to System Preferences/Print & Fax and select the print queue you can see them all. So from the printer management side I can still see the jobs, but I cannot manage them from within Server Admin any longer. This is important for two reasons:
1) Server Admin can be run remotely on a workstation, so no login to the server is required.
2) We can assign Print Service management rights to select non-admins so they can manage the queues.
Any ideas on why Server Admin fails to show spooled jobs?
