Outlook 2000 Security Patch problem

Installation of Outlook 2000 security patch prevents .exe attachments (and others) from being available and there is no apparent option to disable this ‘feature’. This was a surprise – that’s right, I did not read the docs before installing. Does anyone know how to disable this feature other than reinstalling Office 2k? reg Hack perhaps?
