Outlook 2002 problem with Windows Vista

I?m just chunking this out as fast as possible because I?m getting frustrated. I can?t get Outlook 2002 to send email since I bought a new PC with Windows Vista. I gives me several errors such as: Task my email address- Sending and Receiving’ reported error (0x800CCC78) : ‘Unable to send the message. Please verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: z???’
This is the latest error message. I tried a registry edit I found on mickeysoft support. No change.
