Outlook 2003 error (0x800CCC90)

by bobt57 . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

I am having a problem with Outlook 2003, this is the error message I get from one of my e-mail accounts, the other one works fine with the same settings:

Task ‘mail.mchsi.com – Receiving’ reported error (0x800CCC90) : ‘Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: s.’

I tested of the server account via telnet by opening a command window (Start – Run – Enter “cmd”) and typing in telnet followed by my server name followed by the port number of 110 in my case and then typing “USER youUserName” and hit enter then typing in “PASS yourMailPassword” and that worked fine which may point to an Outlook settings problem.

I also tried separating the two email accounts into two groups which did not work either.

So if the problem is with my outlook settings, what should I check next?

I do keep getting the one same e-mail over and over again, not sure why.

Wile I am trying to get this resolved, I did go online to my internet provider and forward all e-mail from one account to the other, which seems to be working as a temporary solution.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
