Hi,
I am having a problem with a user who is trying to connect to a uk based smtp server using outlook 2007 on vista64 in malaysia, through an aztech dsl600ew router. We already know to use port 587 instead of 25.
A transcript of the outlook transport log follows (i’ve replaced some details with letters for security):
2008.05.21 16:56:16 SMTP (X.com): Begin execution
2008.05.21 16:56:16 SMTP (X.com): Port: 587, Secure: no, SPA: no
2008.05.21 16:56:16 SMTP (X.com): Finding host
2008.05.21 16:56:17 SMTP (X.com): Connecting to host
2008.05.21 16:56:17 SMTP (X.com): Connected to host
2008.05.21 16:56:27 SMTP (X.com):
2008.05.21 16:56:27 SMTP (X.com): [tx] EHLO Chris
2008.05.21 16:56:28 SMTP (X.com):
2008.05.21 16:56:28 SMTP (X.com):
2008.05.21 16:56:28 SMTP (X.com): Authorizing to server
2008.05.21 16:56:28 SMTP (X.com): Disconnecting from host
2008.05.21 16:56:28 SMTP (X.com): Disconnected from host
2008.05.21 16:56:28 SMTP (X.com): End execution
As you can see the connection is shut after the authorisation line. Successful send operations on other machines show up more lines of text after the “250 ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES” line, although other machines have “250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES” instead. i know the lack of hyphen indicates it’s the last line of the codes list.
ultimately i want to fix the problem so the user can send mail using outlook 2007… what i think i want to know is why does the server disconnect? Are there any clues in the log above?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Alex
