Outlook 2007 will not connect to SBS 2003 over VPN

by onethirtyone . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

Hello All,

My name is Bill and I recently deployed a SBS 2003 R2 server for a local company with about 10 users.

Here’s my question – On one particular laptop, I cannot get Outlook 07 to connect to the Exchange server over vpn. I am able to ping the server over vpn using IP address and Hostname, view fileshares on the server using Hostname, even connect over RDP using IP address (hostname does not work here).

This is using the vpn client deployed by SBS 2003 from remote web workplace, and I have 5+ users who use this vpn client to connect to the server in order to connect to exchange without issue, but this laptop is being troublesome. Laptop is running Windows XP MCE SP3. Windows firewall is disabled, no other firewall software on the machine.

I even tried bypassing the router at the laptops location and plugging directly into the modem in order to attempt to resolve this, nothing seems to work, can someone please point me in the right direction.
