Outlook Appointment Reminders dropping network connection

I am trying to support a user who is having this issue. He has an appointment remider that will pop up at random points during the day which are not scheduled in his calendar. That part is annoying but still allows him to work. However the part that doesn’t allow him to work is that everytime he gets one of these reminders it drops his network connection. Has anyone every seen anything like this? I have no clue how to disable these events from happening as they are not listed in his calendar. Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks!
