Outlook/Exchange email Archive systems

What are the best options for an email archive system for Outlook/Exchange (5.5/2000) out there today. I have heard a little about Microsofts Sharepoint Portal Server. Is this the recommendation and are there any alternative systems that you mightrecommend.
