Outlook Express repeatedly sending emails.

I have a laptop computer here that Outlook Express repeatedly sending emails and after a time there is an error but no text to say what the error is. The emails never leave the outbox. Some emails have been delivered 30 times. How can this be fixed? It is running Windows XP Pro with SP3.
