Hello,
A user of mine is trying to open Outlook 2003 and receives this message:
“Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened.”
In the past, this particular error has been associated with the installation of a VPN client called Checkpoint Securemote. If this VPN client was not installed on the computer, the problem would go away 90 minutes from uninstallation of the Securemote. However, in this case it did not work. It has been over 2 hours since uninstallation and the error message still pops up when Outlook is started.
We have restarted Outlook and restarted the computer. I have run outlook as myself while logged in as the user and have been able to use Outlook normally. I have tried to create a new outlook profile for the user and when I run that profile this is the message I get:
“Unable to open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to your Microsoft Exchange Server computer with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your offline folder file.”
Logging in as the user on another computer and using Outlook is unsuccessful. Creating a new windows profile and trying to access Outlook is unsuccessful. The problem appears to be on the exchange server.
Using different versions of Outlook does not matter.
Any ideas?
