At a September 2005 news conference, Palm, Microsoft, and Verizon announced the January 2006 launch of a new Palm Treo running Windows Mobile 5.0. While Palm stated their continued development of new Palm OS devices, this pairing of one-time rivals could signal the demise of the Palm OS.
