Partitions

I am currently running both Windows and Red Hat on my cpu. After getting comfortable with linux I would like to go with just one OS. Therefore I do not need the partition to run both. How do I free up the partition for running just the one OS? Do I have to format/fdisk to free it up or is there a way to delete the partition without formatting the whole disk? Help! Thanks, Tim
