Password retrieval, 3com 3c16900 switch

We have lost the password of our 3c16900 switch, we can connect to the switch using the console port or the network, however for reconfiguring the switch we need to reset the username/password of the switch since those were lost. 3com will be charging us $450 for the service, we’re wondering if there is any other way or if it is even possible without damaging the switch.
